Which Decks do I use? Which Deck is best for you?

Updated: Mar 26

Each Tarot deck features different art work, different symbols and are influenced by all the many experiences the creators have had. Yet all are part of the great river of the Tarot system which has many tributaries, from Astrology to Renaissance Painting, Kabbalah and beyond.

I choose the deck based on the query and the general vibe I get from the client. However you are welcome to request a specific deck.

I currently own five Tarot decks:

  1. Elemental Rainbow Tarot by Carol Herzer

  1. Cosmic Slumber Tarot by Tillie Walden

ree

  1. Hush Tarot by Jeremy Hush

ree

  1. The Shimmer Veil by Cilla Conway

ree

  1. The Star Tarot by Cathy Mclelland

I also use digital decks such as the Soprafino Tarot (1835) and the original Rider-Waite-Smith deck (1909). I also may on occasion use my Oracle deck (Green Witch Oracle deck).

It goes without saying each deck will lend a different feeling, and can illuminate different aspects of reality more clearly than others...

Elemental Rainbow, which is based on the Rider-Waite-Smith deck (the most popular and recognisable imagery of any tarot deck). It's colours are so gorgeously vibrant, it is uplifting, electrifying and clear. It suits all readings, with a bright everyday outlook.

The Shimmering veil, which is very primal, cosmic and has a deep and emotional power. It is suited to in-depth and subconscious readings.

The Star Tarot whose images are simply beautiful and global, and has a more shamanic, tribal and positive vibration. This suits more profound and universal connections, as well as adding a certain sparkle.

The Hush Tarot is singular, outlandish, and can be a bit 'freaky' for some, one wouldn't call it 'bright', yet it has a unique character, and will make you appreciate ants in a new light. I have found it suits relational spreads, as well as more shadow aspects.

Cosmic Slumber is a soft, gentle and sweet deck, with very beautiful and accomplished artwork. It suits a more lighthearted approach, and adds a feeling of warmth and love.

So whatever query or problem you are facing, rest assured the appropriate deck will present itself.

Note: I am aware many, perhaps most tarot readers, 'collect' decks. Personally I feel knowing five decks deeply is much more effective than having eighty decks and never using half of them. Also, being the travelling type, I just don't have the space in my suitcase.
